Donating to charity from Kraken works through the Withdraw function: you send crypto from your Kraken balance to the charity's payment address. Kraken adds one extra safety step that surprises first-timers — every new withdrawal address has to be saved and confirmed before you can use it. Here's the whole flow.
Before you start
- A verified Kraken account with some crypto.
- Access to the email inbox linked to your Kraken account (you may need it to approve the address).
- The charity's donation page open to get the payment address.
Menu names can vary slightly between the Kraken website, the Kraken app, and Kraken Pro, but the steps are the same.
Step 1 — Get the charity's address
On the charity's donate page, pick an amount and coin. The checkout shows the exact payment address, the network it expects, and the amount to send. On TraceGood you can also choose Other coin or network to pay with any of 200+ coins and networks at checkout. Keep the page open.
Step 2 — Open Withdraw in Kraken
- Sign in and go to Transfer (called Funding in some versions), then choose Withdraw.
- Select the asset you want to donate.
- Select the network.
Step 3 — Add and confirm the address ⚠️
- Click Add new withdrawal address.
- Paste the charity's address (never type it by hand) and give it a label, such as "TraceGood donation".
- Make sure the network matches what the charity's checkout shows — for example, the Bitcoin network for BTC, or Ethereum (ERC20) versus TRON (TRC20) for USDT.
- If the checkout shows a memo or destination tag (used by coins like XRP, XLM, and TON), enter it too.
- Kraken may email you an approval link. Open it to confirm the address — the link expires after a short time, so do it right away.
Sending on the wrong network can cause the funds to be lost. When in doubt, match exactly what the charity's donation page shows.
Step 4 — Enter the amount and confirm
Choose your saved address, enter the amount, and review the summary. Kraken charges a withdrawal fee and each coin has a minimum withdrawal — so check that the amount that actually arrives matches what the checkout asks for. Confirm, and enter your 2FA code if you have it enabled.
Step 5 — Verify your donation
Kraken processes the withdrawal and the transfer settles on-chain, usually within minutes. In your account's activity or history view you'll find the transaction ID, which you can look up on a block explorer — your permanent receipt proving the gift arrived.
Quick tips
- Do the address step early. Crypto checkouts have a time limit and each donation gets its own address, so if the approval email is slow you may need to start a fresh donation and add the new address.
- Recently deposited funds may be on hold. Crypto bought moments ago by card or bank transfer can be temporarily locked from withdrawal.
- Account for the fee. Send enough that the charity receives the full amount shown at checkout.
- Test with a small amount if it's your first withdrawal.
That's all there is to it. Make a donation, or learn which cryptocurrency to choose.
